Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a 2011 American science fiction action film based on Hasbro 's Transformers toy line. The film is the third installment in the Transformers film series and the sequel to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009). The film is directed by Michael Bay and written by Ehren Kruger.

It was released in 3D and IMAX at 9PM on June 28, 2011 [1] and in wide release on June 29, 2011 [2] in the United States, and between June 29 and July 1 for other markets. The film is set three years after the events of Revenge of the Fallen.
