Elizabeth Bethune, or Beaton (died after 1581), was one of the mistresses of King James V of Scotland. Their daughter, Lady Jean Stewart, married Archibald Campbell, 5th Earl of Argyll. [1]
I am a visual story-teller. I make pictures of everyday life, of the quotidian world, of people, places and things; situations at once familiar to many, but singular in their specificity. The particulars reflect my vision and experience but welcomes the viewer in with empathy.

Elizabeth de Bethune is an artist and educator with 25 years of teaching experience, both as a teaching artist and classroom teacher. Elizabeth works primarily with 2-dimensional image making processes, from drawing and painting to printmaking and collage.
