Ralph Montagu, 1st Duke of Montagu (24 December 1638 – 9 March 1709) was an English courtier, diplomat, politician and peer.

It was first created in the Peerage of England in 1705 for Ralph Montagu, 3rd Baron Montagu of Boughton, with the subsidiary title Marquess of Monthermer, but became extinct in 1749. The 1st Duke had been created Earl of Montagu and Viscount Monthermer in 1689.

Ralph Montagu, 1st Duke of Montague (bap. 1638, d. 1709) was an English courtier, diplomat, and patron of the arts. He was elected to Parliament both before and after the Glorious Revolution. Reference:
Under Queen Anne, he secured promotion to the highest rank in the peerage by a family alliance with the Duke of Marlborough ( John Churchill II ). He died of pleurisy on 9 Mar. 1709, and was buried at Warkton.
