Kirsten Munk was the daughter of a powerful landowner and married Christian IV in 1615. She had a close but troubled relationship with the king, who favoured her daughters' husbands, the so-called Party of the Sons-in-law.

A morganatic marriage is a marriage between people of unequal rank in which inherited titles and privileges cannot be passed on to the spouse or children of the marriage.
Kirsten Munk. In 1615 Kirsten Munk became the second wife of Christian IV. She was the daughter of Ludvig Munk and Ellen Marsvin. She and the King had twelve children, of which eight survived.
Kirsten Munk var adelsfrøken og kongens anden hustru fra 1615 til 1630. Hun fik otte børn med kongen, men havde også et uformelt forhold til rhingreve Otto Ludwig af Salm.
