  1. Ernest II, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg (1564–1611), was the Prince of Lüneburg from 1592 to 1611. Life. Ernest was born on 31 December 1564 as the second of fifteen children and the eldest son of William the Younger and his consort Dorothea of Denmark.

  3. Ernest Augustus (Ernest Augustus Christian George, German: Ernst August Christian Georg); 17 November 1887 – 30 January 1953) was Duke of Brunswick from 2 November 1913 to 8 November 1918. He was a grandson of George V of Hanover, thus a Prince of Hanover and a Prince of the United Kingdom.

  6. The series was painted during the reign of Ernest II and this miniature, and those of Ernest II's contemporaries, may have been painted from life. Ernest, eldest son of William the Younger (see 420439) succeeded his father as Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg in 1592.
