Overview. A civilian oil rig crew is recruited to conduct a search and rescue effort when a nuclear submarine mysteriously sinks. One diver soon finds himself on a spectacular odyssey 25,000 feet below the ocean's surface where he confronts a mysterious force that has the power to change the world or destroy it. James Cameron.
In January 1994, the U.S. Ohio-class submarine USS Montana has an encounter with an unidentified submerged object that moves at high speed, making detection difficult. Close contact with the strange object disables power and the Montana drifts into some under ocean mountain ridges and sinks near the Cayman Trough.
