Lord Ian Basil Gawaine Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood (4 November 1870 – 3 July 1917), known as Lord Basil Temple Blackwood, was a British lawyer, civil servant and book illustrator.
Basil Sheridan Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 4th Marquess of Dufferin and Ava (born Basil Sheridan Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood; 6 April 1909 – 25 March 1945), styled Earl of Ava from 1918 until 1930, was a Conservative politician and soldier of the United Kingdom.
On the outbreak of the First World War, Blackwood obtained a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 9th Lancers, at the age of 44. He served as a "galloper" at the Battle of Mons, but was severely wounded in October 1914 and returned to the UK.
