Dark Star is a low-budget film directed by John Carpenter and co-written with Dan O'Bannon, about a crew of space explorers who face malfunctions, boredom and a self-aware bomb. The film was a cult classic and influenced later sci-fi comedies such as Galaxy Quest and Spaceballs.
