Raine's Foundation School was a Church of England voluntary aided school based on two sites in Bethnal Green in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, England.
Raine's School Foundation. Henry Raine was a wealthy brewer from Wapping; he was a pious Churchman, highly respected in the community. In 1719, Henry Raine founded Raine's Foundation School to provide an education for local poor children (50 boys and 50 girls).
Celebrating 300 years. Raine's celebrated its Tercentenary on 8th May 2019 at St Paul's Cathedral. An evensong service to celebrate our Foundation was very well attended by current and past students and teachers.
Raine's Current Trustees. As a proud Rainean, I passed A levels in languages and mathematics. This led me to study and work in Germany followed by a successful career in international banking in the City of London.
