Paul Benfield (1742–1810) was an English East India Company employee and trader, financier and politician. He is now known as a target for the rhetoric of Edmund Burke, and for his spectacular bankruptcy.

He is also the Director of Emerging Technologies at Pallas Advisors, a strategic consulting firm focused on national and economic security.
DIRECTOR. Paul assists a variety of innovative companies on best practices in navigating the complex go-to-market strategies required for commercial success in the national security sphere. He also directs Pallas Ventures, bringing his expertise in venture capital and emerging dual-use technology to bear on the national security ecosystem.

Biography. Paul Benfield invested some of his East India wealth into the Bogue estate in Jamaica alongside Alderman Richard Atkinson (q.v.) c. 1780, and also owned the 'Benfield estates' in Berbice, which included at one time Edinburgh, Glasgow, Welgelegen, Herstelling, New Welgelegen, Belmont, Union, Mon Choisi, Zeelught and Edderton.
He served more than 20 years in the U.S. Army in various Airborne, Special Operations, and Infantry units, including service as a Joint Chiefs of Staff Fellow, a company commander, a platoon leader, and a non-commissioned officer. Paul is also an Adjunct Senior Fellow for the Defense Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS).
