This map of the Hitchcock Military Academy was drawn by Cadet 1st Lieutenant J. F. Partridge and is from the school's 1912-1913 yearbook. The school was originally named Selborne School and located on Grand Avenue between Elm and Belle Streets in San Rafael, California.

22 de jul. de 2010 · Founded in 1878 as the San Rafael College, the institution morphed into Selbourne School in 1888, the Hitchcock Military Academy in 1907, the Tamalpais School for Boys in 1925, and St. Peter Chanel Seminary in 1955. The Marist Society sold the school in 1970.
Hitchcock's nonconformist nature affected his military career. In 1827 he refused to take part in a court of inquiry at the Military Academy, maintaining that the court had overstepped an accepted interpretation of military law.
