This band, founded in 1978, featured American Katrina Leskanich on vocals and keyboards, and fellow American, Vince de la Cruz on vocals and lead guitar. During a school production at RAF Lakenheath , Vince had noticed Katrina, and asked her to join his band.

Everything becomes much more understandable when one learns that both Katrina Leskanich and Vince de la Cruz are American. “Que Te Quiero” is a charming love song from Katrina and the Waves in which the singer continues heading south to Mexico because of her Mexican boyfriend despite the external pressures on her to end the relationship.

Waves is the fourth studio album by new wave band Katrina and the Waves, released in 1986 by Capitol Records. It followed their US and UK Top 30 album Katrina and the Waves (1985), reaching No. 49 on Billboard 200 and No. 70 on the UK Albums Chart.
