Boarding Life. Boarding lies at the heart of Cheam and helps build a unique sense of community. The boarding house plays a key role in developing the school’s strong sense of family values, encouraging children to live and work together harmoniously, build friendships and develop their independence before going on to their senior schools.
Cheam has long standing relationships with some of the very best day and boarding schools in the country, and we pride ourselves on guiding every child in our care to exactly the right next step. We help parents manage applications, pre-tests and the successful transition of their children at 13, delivering outstanding exam results and winning a wide range of scholarships along the way.
Since there was no other school in the area that provided co-education from 4 to 13 and offered day, boarding and flexi boarding options this was a niche market. It was decided that Inhurst House, a local Pre-Prep, would join Cheam Hawtreys starting in September 1998 and completing in April 1999.

The journey begins. Throughout Years 5, 6 and 7 we constantly advise and consult with parents to identify the style of school which will suit each child and their family, whether it be single-sex or co-ed, traditional boarding or flexi-boarding, large or small, highly-academic or a more supportive learning environment to help them make one of the most important decisions in their child’s life.
