约翰·赫维是第一代布里斯托伯爵约翰·赫维与第二任妻子伊丽莎白所生之子。1723年异母兄卡尔死后，作为父亲的伯爵爵位继承人，常被称为赫维 勋爵 （Lord Hervey） [1] ；但他先于父亲而死，故未能继承布里斯托伯爵爵位，而由其子继之。
Juni 1733 wurde er durch Writ of Acceleration ins House of Lords berufen, erbte dadurch vorzeitig den nachgeordneten Titel seines Vaters als 2. Baron Hervey und schied aus dem House of Commons aus. Von 1740 bis 1742 hatte er das Staatsamt des Lord Privy Seal inne und 1741 wurde er zum Lord Justice of the Realm ernannt.

A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 11 at 3:00 pm at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1301 Collingwood Road, Alexandria, VA 22308. Arrangements are being made by Domaine Funeral Home.
Hon. Elizabeth Catherine Caroline Hervey (1780–1803), who married Charles Ellis, 1st Baron Seaford, the second son of John Ellis of Jamaica, a wealthy sugar farmer and slave trader. [2] Lord Hervey died on 10 January 1796. On his death in 1796, his courtesy title was assumed by his brother, Frederick (later created Marquess of Bristol ).
