It is the most common but least serious type of brain injury. The medical term for concussion is minor traumatic brain injury. Symptoms of concussion include brief: loss of consciousness after the head injury.

The force from the hit that causes a concussion makes the head and brain move back and forth rapidly, leading to brain cell damage and chemical changes in the brain.
