Rock Opera version of Phantom Of The Opera with elements of Faust. Record producer Swan steals both the music and the girl from composer Leach. Disfigured Leach plans revenge on Swan and his rock palace, The Paradise, and becomes The Phantom.
"Phantom of the Paradise" is basically a satirical glam rock update of "Phantom of The Opera" with a bit of "Faust" and "Dorian Gray" mixed in. Kind of the same way that "Rocky" is a glam rock spoof of Frankenstein, haunted house, and alien movies.
