  1. On 25th November 1893, Henry Hussey Vivian, who had recently been enobled as Baron Swansea, was granted an additional crest which he bore alongside the slightly altered crest of his uncle. This crest - a collared lion's head - was based on that of the Vivians of St.Columb but with the addition of two bezants (gold roundels).

John Vivian (1750–1826), mining and copper-smelting entrepreneur. 1750 He was born on 9 January 1750 in Cornwood, Devon, the eldest of four sons of Thomas Vivian, vicar of Cornwood, and his wife, Mary, daughter of John Hussey, barrister, and sister of John Hussey, solicitor-general. Educated at Truro Grammar school and in France.

  6. 1809/10 John Vivian, a Cornish mine owner, established his own smelting works at Hafod, north of Swansea, going into partnership with his sons Richard Hussey Vivian and John Henry Vivian. Vivian and Sons soon established itself as a major manufacturer of copper. By 1811 John Vivian had returned to Cornwall; John Henry managed the Hafod works.
