Fiery and hard-charging, Robinson played the game as intensely as anyone, particularly in the way that he took out middle infielders on potential double plays.

Frank Robinson played 21 seasons for 5 teams, including the Reds and Orioles. He had a .294 batting average, 2,943 hits, 586 home runs, 1,812 RBIs and 1,829 runs scored. He won 1 Gold Glove award, 2 MVP awards, the Rookie of the Year award, 1 World Series MVP award and 2 World Series. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1982.
Frank Robinson debuted as the Indians' player/manager on April 8, 1975, and homered in his first at-bat. (National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum) Robinson played in just 49 games with the Indians that year, hitting eight more home runs. But under his leadership, Cleveland went 79-80 – a 3 1/2-game improvement from the year before.
