ABSTRACT. Howard Hathaway Aiken was born in 1900. He earned an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1923, a Masters in Physics from Harvard in 1937, and his Ph.d in Physics from Harvard in 1939. He was the designer and developer of the first large-scale operating relay calculator in the United States.
