Jawed Karim (born October 28, 1979) is an American software engineer and Internet entrepreneur. He has a Bangaladeshi descent from his paternal side and a German descent from his maternal side. He is a co-founder of YouTube. He is also the first person to upload a video to the site.

His father is a researcher from Bangladesh, while his mother is a German scientist associated with the University of Minnesota as a research professor of biochemistry. He has a sister, Ilias.
