While completely conversant in jazz piano -- initially evidenced by 1965's hard bop scorcher Kaleidoscope -- his playing leans more toward contemporary jazz.
Dave Grusin composed the fantastic music score of the film "The fabulous Baker Boys" (1989), directed by Steve Kloves and starred by Jeff Bridges, Michelle Pfeiffer and Beau Bridges. He has composed many scores for feature films and television, and has won numerous awards for his soundtrack and record work, including an Academy Award and ten Grammy Awards.
