24 de set. de 2020 · Katherine Mansfield foi das primeiras autoras cuja a obra (parte dela) eu resenhei na época em que comecei a escrever sobre livros na internet, no site Escritoras Inglesas (atualmente desativado). Bliss também foi um dos primeiros textos de ficção que eu li e resenhei (desta vez aqui mesmo no meu blog) depois que a Olívia nasceu.
Katherine Mansfield groeide op in Nieuw-Zeeland, in een dorpje nabij Wellington, als dochter van een rijke koloniale handelaar annex bankier. In 1903 verliet ze Nieuw-Zeeland om drie jaar lang te gaan studeren aan het Queen's College in Londen , gespecialiseerd in onderwijs en opvoeding van meisjes en jonge vrouwen.
Se verdade ou não, foi através de “Bliss” que Katherine Mansfield se tornou reconhecida em muitos países e também no Brasil, com a primeira tradução para o português realizada por Érico Veríssimo, em 1937. Posteriormente, Julieta Cupertino e Ana Cristina Cesar também o traduziram.
