I'd say Fog of War proves this isn't true. Several times I could believe the brashness, arrogance, and unaffected demeanor of Mr. McNamara as he spoke casually about committing war crimes, burning 100,000 Japanese civilians in a single night, and the total botching of the Vietnam War which led to hundreds of thousands of American casualtities.
