  3. Henry Howard, 1st Earl of Northampton KG (25 February 1540 – 15 June 1614) was an important English aristocrat and courtier. He was suspected throughout his life of being Roman Catholic, and went through periods of royal disfavour, in which his reputation suffered greatly.

When Henry Howard 1st Earl of Surrey was born on 19 January 1517, in Hertfordshire, England, his father, Thomas Howard II 3rd Duke of Norfolk, Earl Surrey, was 44 and his mother, Elizabeth Stafford, was 19. He married Frances de Vere on 13 February 1531, in England, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters.

  5. Henry Howard, 1st Earl of Northampton, was a courtier known for his learning, artistic culture and public charities. He was involved in the murder of Sir Thomas Overbury. Born on February 25, 1540, he was a younger brother of the 4th Duke of Norfolk, and uncle of Earl of Arundel. He studied with Bishop John White and was sympathetic towards Roman Catholicism. He died on June 15, 1614, aged 74.
