Strangers on a train viel me licht tegen, al had ik hoge verwachtingen van de film. De film, die tot Hitch beste gerekend wordt begon weinig bijzonder en werd gaandeweg steeds interessanter. De film is best mooi geschoten maar kan niet tippen aan bv het oudere en ook zwart-witte Shadow of a Doubt (1943) .

"Strangers on a Train" is one of my favourite Hitchcock films. Its plot is compelling though in lesser hands than Hitchcock's it would seem far-fetched and over the top. The director's control over this subject matter, his brilliant cinematic touches, his collaboration with two vital actors, all add up to an enjoyable and absorbing, thrilling whole.
