Tina Weymuth borrows remnants of," GENIUS OF LOVE" and sprinkle them throughout the disc, and masterfully blend new voices, beats, horns, and rythyms to create one funky cd. This is the best TOM TOM CLUB cd ever made.

Among the musicians on The Good, the Bad, and the Funky are Jamaican singer Mystic Bowie, Charles Pettigrew and Toots Hibbert of Toots and the Maytals. The album's release was followed by one European and several American tours. Tom Tom Club also recorded a cover of Phish's "Sand" for a benefit CD, helping them bring in a new, jamband audience.

The Good the Bad and the Funky (Rykodisc) 2000 Formed as a lighthearted family side project to Talking Heads by the band’s rhythm section — bassist Tina Weymouth and her husband, drummer Chris Frantz — the beat-happening Tom Tom Club got off to a great start with the debut album, which contains two irresistibly infectious dance tracks, “Wordy Rappinghood” and “Genius of Love.”
With The Good the Bad and the Funky, that's good meaning great, bad meaning good and funky most definitely meaning funky. It's been 20 years since the Tom Tom Club formed as a more visceral arms-and-butt alternative to Talking Heads, and it's been the best part of a decade since Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz released DarkSneakLoveAction.
