Sir Percy Florence Shelley, 3rd Baronet of Castle Goring was the son and only surviving child of English Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley and his second wife, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley.
His wife was the novelist Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus. Their only surviving son, Percy Florence Shelley (1819-1889), was born in Italy. He studied at Cambridge and upon the death of his grandfather became Sir Percy, 3rd Baronet of Castle Goring, Sussex.

The Abinger papers are the residue of the collection of Shelley family papers from Boscombe Manor (near Bournemouth, Dorset), the home of Sir Percy Florence Shelley, 3rd Baronet of Castle Goring (1819-1889), and his wife Jane, Lady Shelley (1820-1899). Sir Percy had inherited the family archive from his mother, Mary Shelley (1797-1851).
