Through his mother he was the half brother of Henry FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Richmond and Somerset, who was the only illegitimate offspring acknowledged by Henry VIII, King of England.

Elizabeth Ann Blount was born in 1500, in Worcestershire, England as the daughter of Sir John Blount and Catherine Pershall. She married Gilbert Tailboys in September 1519. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. She died on 15 June 1541, in Hounslow, Middlesex, England, at the age of 41, and was buried in Hounslow, Middlesex, England.
