A member of Inner Temple, Gray’s Inn or Lincoln’s Inn who has practiced at the Bar of England and Wales can, with good reason, apply to join the Middle Temple as an Ad Eundem member. Ad Eundem members of the Inn enjoy most of the benefits which full membership offers, including dining rights, discounts on venue hire and priority placements on the Inn’s training courses.

Lunch in Middle Temple Hall has to be booked. Lunch is only available Monday – Friday from noon – 2pm during one of the four legal terms. Hilary: mid January – Easter, Easter: Easter – end of May, Trinity: beginning June – end July and Michaelmas: beginning October – Christmas. For exact dates check the Middle Temple website.
Middle Temple falls appropriately in the middle in terms of its size. It currently has about 5,000 practising barristers on its books, with roughly 600 student members admitted each year. Tucked down an intricate maze of alleys and narrow cobbled streets, Middle Temple would be hard to find even for former member Walter Raleigh, famous though he was for his navigational exploits.
