The building, built in 1918 for Evander Childs High School, was previously occupied by Walton High School (1930) and by an annex of DeWitt Clinton High School (1935). Bronx Science started with 150 ninth grade students and 250 tenth grade students, and the remaining facilities were used by DeWitt Clinton.

On the occasion of the school’s 80th anniversary in 2018, the Foundation created the Bronx Science Hall of Fame to recognize and celebrate our most distinguished alumni. Students, alumni, parents, faculty and guests can read their names and learn more about their accomplishments on the Hall of Fame wall in the school’s lobby.
