Oban distillery (/ ˈ oʊ b ə n / ⓘ OH-bən; Scottish Gaelic: Taigh-stail an Òbain) is a whisky distillery in the Scottish west coast port of Oban. Established in 1794, it was built before the town of the same name, which sprang up later in the surrounding craggy harbour.
Dunstaffnage Castle, which is built on a rock, lies 3 miles north of Oban and is one of Scotland’s oldest stone castles, known as the home to the famous MacDougalls. The surrounding woodland grounds are definitely worth a wander, and you can look forward to spotting some of the rare wildlife that now inhabits the castle.
