Revenue from ticket sales goes directly towards the conservation of the Book of Kells and the Old Library collection, however it is our goal to offer a memorable and enjoyable visitor experience. You are right about the lighting in the Treasury - since the Book of Kells is 1,200 years old it is extremely light sensitive.

The Book of Kells exhibit is remarkable, especially in terms of how the book has been preserved for so many years. But the true highlight for me was the long room — an ultimate book lovers’ paradise.

Trinity College Library - The Long Room The Old Library is the part of Trinity which attracts most visitors and with good reason. The Long Room was completed in 1793 is a wonderful place of high gilded ceilings and arches, and huge oak bookshelves with more than 200,000 old books and other treasures within its walls.

18 de ago. de 2021 · It has been on display in the Old Library at Trinity College from the mid 19th century, and now attracts in excess of 500,000 visitors a year. Since 1953 it has been bound in four volumes. Two volumes can normally be seen, one opened to display a major decorated page, and one to show two pages of script.
