McLain Ward and Rothchild represent the United States in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup CSIO4*, presented by Edge Brewing Barcelona at HITS Post Time Farm in Ocala, Florida. Showjumping, says Ward, is in his genes. The son of a grand prix rider and a trainer, he began riding at an early age.
Ward bestritt, hiervon gewusst zu haben und unterzog sowohl sich als auch seine Pflegerin einem Lügendetektortest. Trotzdem wurde er von der FEI für acht Monate gesperrt. Der Veranstalter des CHIOs verhängte zudem über McLain Ward ein lebenslanges Startverbot, welches jedoch im Jahr 2004 nach mehrmaliger Entschuldigung Wards aufgehoben wurde.
