Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia (17 October 1853 – 24 October 1920) she married Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha on 23 January 1874. They had six children. Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia (11 May 1857 – 17 February 1905) he married Princess Elisabeth of Hesse and by Rhine on 15 June 1884.
(Alexander and Ekaterina joined in a morganatic marriage, after Maria’s death in 1880). Her husband’s infidelity and the premature death of her firstborn caused deep pain to Maria Alexandrovna. The much weakened Tsarina died on May 27, 1880 and she was buried in the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul with full honors.
