Biografia. Charles Sedley nacque ad Aylesford nel 1639, figlio di Sir John Sedley e della moglie Elizabeth, figlia di Henry Savile.Studiò al Wadham College dell'Università di Oxford, che lasciò senza aver ottenuto la laurea e nel 1656, alla morte del fratello maggiore William, ereditò il titolo.
Despite such behaviour Sedley also served time as a prominent Member of Parliament and established himself as a witty and forceful speaker between the 1660s and the end of the 17 th century. He held the seat of New Romney in Kent until his death. Sir Charles Sedley died at Hampstead on the 20 th August 1701 at the age of 62.
