William Carlos Williams, né le 17 septembre 1883 et mort le 4 mars 1963, est un poète, traducteur, critique littéraire et romancier américain. Il est un des grands représentants du modernisme américain, participant aux mouvements de l' imagisme et de l' objectivisme dont il est l'un des membres fondateurs.

He also wrote plays, novels, short stories, translations, essays, and an autobiography.
All but the first two lines of “The Red Wheelbarrow” is devoted to one image. Williams’s poems also often point out the relationship between things and the words we use to talk about them. In “A Sort of a Song,” Williams makes a bold statement: Let the snake wait under. his weed. and the writing.

Biographical Introduction William Carlos Williams was born in a comfortably middle class home in Rutherford, New Jersey, in 1883. He would spend virtually his whole life in and around the environs of his hometown. His father was American, but his mother was born of a "respectable" Puerto Rican family, meaning they had almost pure Spanish.
