Baptist Leveson-Gower (c. 1703–1782) was a British Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons for 34 years from 1727 to 1761. Leveson-Gower was the fourth son of John Leveson Gower, 1st Baron Gower , MP, and his wife Lady Catherine Manners, daughter of John Manners, 1st Duke of Rutland . [1]

The tenor of Leveson Gower’s speech was that it was better to make provisions while the King was present. When the committee met the next day, he intervened to question the relevance of a proposal that Commissary John Shales be brought before the House, doubting whether it would contribute to the safety of the government.

She was the eldest daughter of John Leveson-Gower, 1st Earl Gower, and his wife, the former Lady Evelyn Pierrepont. She married the Duke of Bedford on 2 April 1737. The earl's first wife, the former Lady Diana Spencer, had died in 1735, of tuberculosis; Diana's only child by the earl - John Russell, Marquess of Tavistock - had died in infancy.
