General Philip John Schuyler passed away on November 18, 1804. He was buried with full military honors in the vault of General Abraham Ten Broeck. The Schuyler family was established in the New World by Philip Pieterse Schuyler (d. 1683), who migrated from Amsterdam in 1650, and whose son, Peter (1657-1724), was the first mayor of Albany and chairman of the board of Indian commissioners of the province.
