1 de jan. de 2021 · With Uvedale's help Dudley crossed to France to seek aid from Henry II, but his plot was betrayed in March, and on 4 April Dudley was proclaimed a traitor. On the 8th Nicholas Wotton [q. v.] was ordered to demand his extradition, but the French king received him well, gave him fifteen hundred crowns, and made him a gentleman of the privy chamber.

Dudley Conspiracy (1555) Another conspiracy was hatched against Mary in Dec 1555, called the Dudley Conspiracy after one of its main architects, Sir Henry Dudley. Dudley, kinsman of John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, was the second son of John Sutton de Dudley and younger brother of Edmund Sutton, 4th baron Dudley.

On this day in Tudor history, 7th July 1556, in the reign of Queen Mary I, Henry Peckham and John Danyell were hanged, drawn and quartered after being found guilty of treason for their involvement in the Dudley Conspiracy.
