He was often beaten and humiliated by his father for his keen interest in arts and music, as his father considered these interests effeminate. In 1730, Frederick tried to escape his abusive father.

Frederick VI of Nuremberg was officially recognized as Margrave and Prince-elector Frederick I of Brandenburg at the Council of Constance in 1415. When Duke of Prussia Albert Frederick died in 1618 without having had a son, his son-in-law John Sigismund, at the time the prince-elector of the Margraviate of Brandenburg, inherited the Duchy of Prussia.
Prince Frederick William of Prussia (1831-88), known affectionately as ‘Fritz’, was the only son of William I, King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany, and Augusta, daughter of Charles Frederick, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. In 1858 he married Victoria, Princess Royal, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
She had a son Prince Frederick Willian 4 who later became the King of Prussia (1840) but he was born in 1795 which would make him only 19 in season 1 (if Shonda isn't stretching timelines again). I find it really interesting that it was Louise's daughter, Alexandra Feodorona who was married to the last Tsar of Russia.
Prince Frederick WIlliam became Emperor of Prussia for just a few months in 1888 before he died of cancer and was succeeded by his eldest son. Given to Queen Victoria by Prince Albert as a present, on 31 March the Queen sent her daughter a photograph of this watercolour and Vicky replied to say how much she and her new husband liked it.
