Charles Edward Maurice Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, DL (born 20 May 1964), styled Viscount Althorp between 1975 and 1992, is a British peer, author, journalist, and broadcaster. He is the younger brother of Diana, Princess of Wales, and is the maternal uncle of William, Prince of Wales, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex .
Althorp was to receive perhaps more attention than at any time during its tenure by the scholarly Seventh Earl Spencer – who had been wounded during the First World War. He dedicated himself to the house’s upkeep, cataloguing its contents, and opening it to scholars.
Althorp became one of the prominent stately homes in England. The house dates to 1688, replacing an earlier house that was once visited by Charles I.

Tatler's March 2021 issue cover stars Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer lived at the house until they were 3-years-old, when the family moved to South Africa.
