Putney (/ ˈ p ʌ t n i /) is an affluent district of south London, England, in the London Borough of Wandsworth, five miles (eight kilometres) southwest of Charing Cross. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.

Putney é um distrito no borough de Wandsworth, na Região de Londres, na Inglaterra. Fica a 8.2 km (5.1 milhas) de Charing Cross', na margem sul do rio Tâmisa, oposto à Fulham. É também onde mora John Deacon, o ex-integrante da banda Queen, com esposa e seis filhos.

Putney has a rich and varied heritage extending from settlements in Neolithic and pre-Roman times to the present day. Putney appears in the Domesday Book of 1086, referred to as ‘Putelei’ or ‘Putenhie’. The name derives from the “landing place where hawks are seen”. The Thames has played an important past in Putney’s history.
