He grew up in London and at Stratfield Saye House, his family's estate in Hampshire, and was educated at Ludgrove School, Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford.

Gerald Wellesley, 7th Duke of Wellington and Dorothy Violet Ashton, on 28 January 1944 at St. George's Cathedral, Jerusalem, Israel.
