Aleksandar Stoimenov Stamboliyski (Bulgarian: Александър Стоименов Стамболийски; 1 March 1879 – 14 June 1923) was a Bulgarian politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bulgaria from 1919 until 1923.

On 9 June 1923 an efficiently organised coup deposed the BANU government. Stamboliiski was at the time at his home in Slavovitsa. He went into hiding but was discovered on 14 June, tortured, mutilated and finally beheaded; it was said that his head was sent to Sofia in a biscuit tin.
