  1. The dorsal nerve of the clitoris is a nerve in females that branches off the pudendal nerve to innervate the clitoris. The nerve is important for female sexual pleasure, and it may play a role in clitoral erections. It travels from below the inferior pubic ramus to the suspensory ligament of the clitoris.

  2. 3 de nov. de 2023 · The dorsal nerve of clitoris is a terminal branch of the pudendal nerve, which travels along the dorsal surface of the clitoral body to the glans. Here, it terminates as a network of highly sensitive free nerve endings and other mechanoreceptors making it one of the densely innervated regions of the body.

The clitoris is the primary somatosensory organ of female sexual response. Understanding clitoral anatomy and the course of the dorsal nerves of the clitoris is important to safely perform surgery on and near female genitalia (Figures 1 and 2). The clitoris is composed of multiple parts: the vestibular bulbs, crura, body, glans, and clitoral hood (...

All 10 cadavers dissected were Caucasian females with an average age of 73.6 years (range, 43-88 years); dissections were performed between November and December 2018. The cadavers were self-enrolled donors of the Willed Body Program at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX. Institutional review board exemptions were in place for anatomic st...

The lengths of the clitoral hood, glans, frenulum, and body are given in Table 1. The clitoral body consisted of 2 paired cavernosa encased by the tunica albuginea, and a layer of overlying clitoral fascia. It consisted of an ascending segment, extending from the junction of the crura to the angle, where the clitoral body turned to form a descendin...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate, via cadaveric dissection, the course of the dorsal nerves from the clitoral crura to the glans, and to characterize surrounding structures. This work was approached from a surgical perspective, with the goal of providing essential knowledge for procedures involving female external genitalia. Our characteri...

The dorsal nerves of the clitoris are sizable, measuring greater than 3.5 mm proximally in their course and 2.0 mm at the point of terminal arborization at or near the glans clitoris. The descending segment of the clitoral body is a longer structure than has previously been reported, measuring 37 mm in length, most of which is superficial and just ...
