Maximillian Adolph Otto Siegfried Schmeling (Klein Luckow, 28 de setembro de 1905 — Wenzendorf, 2 de fevereiro de 2005) foi um pugilista alemão. His two fights with Joe Louis in 1936 and 1938 were worldwide cultural events because of their national associations.

So it was a "formal" K.o. Hammer wrote a long letter to BOXSPORT (issue Nov. 7, 1949) stating that his fight against Schmeling was over 10 rounds and that the 8 rounds in the complete secondary literature are wrong. Schmeling retired due to an ear injury in the rest between round 4 and 5.
