Introduced in the Closed Beta Test for Ground Forces before Update 1.41, the Panzer IV H variant is a significant step forward from the Panzer IV G variant. The addition of 5 mm side skirts, known as Schürzen, is the most noteworthy difference.

This was intended to be the “final form” of the Panzer IV. It was an attempt to mount the “narrow-turret”, already under development for the Panther II project, on the chassis of a late model Panzer IV H. With the turret came a better gun. Specifically the 75 mm (2.95 in) L/70 tank gun from Rheinmetall.
A variação G do Pz. IV foi produzida a partir de maio de 1942. Em abril de 1943, a produção da variação H começou—eventualmente a versão que mais se produziu do Pz. IV. O Ausf. H compartilhou o canhão melhorado do Ausf. G e utilizou uma placa frontal única de 80-mm ao invés de placas em camadas.
