For this version of Alfred, you have to believe he was butlering in his 20s while Bruce was an infant. So you can see why Alfred is usually portrayed as old. The Serkis Alfred is even 2 years closer in age to Pattinson than Irons is to Affleck. Caine is a much bigger 41 years older than Bale, so he started his butlering in his 40s.
The snarky sarcastic Alfred, Irons played was fantastic. His chemistry with Ben was great. This Alfred is Bruce's confidante, voice of reason, and partener. Only thing missing is the badass-ery we know alfred is capable of in he comics. 15.
