Ian Richard Hodder CMG FBA (born 23 November 1948, in Bristol) is a British archaeologist and pioneer of postprocessualist theory in archaeology that first took root among his students and in his own work between 1980 and 1990.
Ian Hodder is a Stanford professor and a leading expert on the origins of cities and human-thing entanglement. He leads the Çatalhöyük Research Project, a long-term excavation of a 9,000-year-old site in Turkey that reveals the social and economic organization of one of the world’s first urban societies.
