VanCamp nasceu em Port Perry, Ontário. Ela se mudou para Montreal, com doze anos de idade, depois de ter sido aceita na École supérieure de ballet du Québec. Ela fala francês e inglêsfluentemente e tem três irmãs: Molly, Katie, e Alison.
